How Staircraft began, from 1987 to the present day
I started my working life as a young apprentice, where I was given the chance to learn the carpentry skills which, combined with a constant drive to look at doing things differently, eventually led to me starting my own business.
As a carpenter I was constantly frustrated by the complexity of certain joinery applications. I knew there must be a better way of producing wooden staircases to meet the needs of builders looking for a quality, safe product that was easy to install, robust and trouble-free.
I set up Staircraft in 1987 at the age of 22. After many years of research, trials and refinement, our customers tell us we have got it right – we make the complex simple by engineering out the disconnects and conflicts and constantly challenging the whole installation process from design through to the final paint stroke.
